Ted. Thank you for your comment. Every birth is unique & so no one explanation will be completely accurate for your birth. You can expect to see your wife in some pain, you’ll see a nurse (& possible a couple nurses) coming in & out of the room. You’ll most likely get a visit or two from your OB before she starts pushing. You’ll most likely have about 20 mintues of monitoring each hour. A first time mom will on average bw in labor for roughly 14-16 hours & she will have a higher chance of going past her due date. :) If all goes smoothly you’ll see your beautiful baby brought into this world in one of the most natural & primal ways possible. :) Best of luck to you & CONGRATS!! :)

    Hello,

I was wondering if you had any advice on how to become a childbirth educator? I love pregnancy, birth, and just learning talking about everything etc. I am currently in school for my ece degree, and I love children but I want to head in a different direction. Advice or anything would be appreciated.

    Thank you so much

There are lots of ways to become an educator! First step is go figure out what birth method you would like to teach. You can also create your own to teach, but this would be after learning lots from each method & creating your own hybrid education class.

The top choices for becoming a CBE are:

    -Hypnobirthing
    -Hypnobabies
    -Brio Birth
    -The Bradley Method
    -Lamaze

    Etc…

I would start researching these individual methods & see what their requirements are for becoming an educator (for example some will only allow a mother who has had either a natural birth or even their particular method of natural childbirth to even be a candidate). From there you start their training & will soon be on your way to expanding your resume to include Childbirth Educator. I hope that helped! :)

    Thank you!

Honestly I am big on natural birth and learning of ways to help those who want to go the natural way and to make it more enjoyable. Just using and finding different methods that channel energy and focus else where etc, if that makes sense?

After I decide what direction I want to go in, how or where do I start my training? I’ve done some research online, and found a few online programs etc but thats it.

If you decide which method you would like to teach then you would contact that method specifically to get started.

You can go to any of their websites to learn more about how to become an educator. If you decide to teach a hybrid class I’d recommend finding another CBE in town who teaches their own hybrid class & meet with them to learn more about how they went about creating their own curriculum. I personally taught under The Bradley Method & Brio Birth, with my last pregnancy however I took a hypnobirthing class because it had always interested me!

    Hope that helps. :)
